About the Wine
In land surveying, “corners” are natural features or placed markers used to define property lines. Over time, it’s not uncommon for these markers to become lost or destroyed, and restoring them demands great care, ingenuity and sometimes tactful diplomacy on the part of the surveyor.
Just a single one-acre block of Tidalstar Vineyard is planted to Chardonnay. This special corner, lost amidst nearly 30 acres of Pinot Noir, provides optimal sun and soil characteristics for this variety. The yield from this block limits production but also focuses our winemaking on the nuances of each season. With no blending to hide behind, we’re able to create a varietal that is unabashedly terroir-driven and truly unique to the time and place from which it comes.
